Different sized cannulas are used to remove the fat. Normally, the patient is placed under a local anesthetic. However, in some circumstances, a general anesthetic is used.
This liposuction technique uses a saline solution that contains a local anesthetic and adrenaline that is injected into the area the patient wishes to be treated. The solution allows the fat deposits to break up easier so that the surgeon can extract it. In addition, the extra fluid minimizes trauma that can occur to the surrounding tissue. This allows for a reduced amount of pain as well as swelling. Certain risks are reduced with the superwet liposuction technique because the solution containing adrenaline decreases bleeding during the procedure.
